AMEDF ADVISOR CERTIFICATION PROGRAM

One way to improve college preparedness is to increase the number of knowledgeable advisors available to families seeking professional assistance.  The AMEDF's Advisor Certification Program enrolls and trains advisors to become college counselors.  Once certified, advisors are placed in AMEDF programs to engage families directly to counsel them on college preparedness.

According to a recent article in The Chronicle of Higher Education, 22 percent of freshmen attending private colleges worked with private counselors prior to enrolling in college.  By expanding the ranks of knowledgeable college counselors, more families will have access to the expertise needed to be better prepared for college.

Advisors benefit because helping families with college needs establishes lasting client relationships for advisors that offer services beyond college planning.  Helping families with college needs provides an excellent opportunity to showcase other services offered by advisors.  Hundreds of advisors have attended training to become AMEDF Certified College Advisors in several states and have enjoyed the positive exposure and satisfaction from helping families better prepare for college.
